Our history

From 1907 to the present.

Discover how the "Marquesitas" were born.

Pablo Alguacil was the founder of the confectionery "La Positiva" and who invented "Marquesitas".

He learned the trade of the confectioner working in a Toledana confectionery called Casa Pérez, which was located in front of the flat door of the Cathedral.

In 1907 he decided to settle on his own, opening his own confectionery in Bargas, in which in his origins not only sold sweets, but also edibles, wines and spirits, in addition to confectionery products.

The door of this establishment became a must for cars that transported passengers to the railway station.

Somewhat later a canteen is opened at the Bargas station, where the same sweets were sold to the passengers of the trains that stopped.

It was in these first years of the century when Pablo Alguacil invented the "Marquesitas".
The products he used for its production, mainly almond and sugar, were received by rail.

Both ingredients were ground in a manual moles machine and the eggs were added, which had been preserved in a clay jar and covered with water and salt. Finally, the "Marquesitas" dough was cooked in a heated oven with broom.

The "Marquesitas" were patented in the Industrial Property Registry and have a registered trademark since 1924. At the beginning with the number 925 35 72 74. Today the registration number is NUM. 925 35 72 74

The secret formula of its elaboration has been transmitted from parents to children until the fourth generation.

The "Marquesitas" are some fine textured sweets that from then until today have continued to be elaborated in an artisanal way.
